Myth Spotlight:
Everyone bangs on about Botox like it’s the holy grail. You’ve heard it a million times: “They’re all the same toxin—just pick one, right?” Nah. That’s like saying all red wine tastes the same. Go sip a £3 bottle of Tesco’s own and then tell me it’s the same as a 2010 Bordeaux. Their bloody soap?
Reality Check:
Let’s be real: they all contain botulinum toxin A—but they’re NOT created equal.
Botox (Allergan):
the OG, but also the most expensive. Reliable? Sure. Overhyped? Also yes. Works in 3–5 days, wears off in 3 months like clockwork.
Azzalure (Galderma):
Faster onset, different dosing scale (confuses newbies), and you might need more units. Oh, and some say it spreads more. Great if you like a soft result. Not great if you accidentally give someone a wonky smile.
Bocouture (Merz):
Pure AF. No complex proteins, so theoretically less chance of antibodies forming. Translation? Might last longer with repeated use. Side note: also doesn’t have that tight “Botox freeze” feel. Some love it, some clients think you didn’t inject anything.
Alluzience:
Liquid gold or marketing BS? Liquid formulation = no reconstitution faff, fast onset, and up to 6 months duration (on paper). But some injectors say it stings like betrayal during breakup week.
Letybo & Nuceiva:
The shiny new kids. Letybo’s big in Asia, so it’s now just trying to impress the UK market with its “non-inferior to Botox” vibe. Nuceiva? It’s Botox’s cheeky twin—same molecular weight, different label, a bit cheaper.
Truth Bomb:
You don’t need every toxin in your fridge. What you need
is:
- One that suits your patient base
- One that matches your injecting style
- One where you actually know the damn dose conversions
- The real flex isn’t in brand-hopping—it’s in mastering the pharmacodynamics of ONE and knowing when to adapt. Brand loyalty isn’t stupid—blind loyalty is.
Ask yourself:
Are you picking your toxin based on clinical fit—or clinic
rep freebies?
Disclaimer:
These are just my humble (and mildly sarcastic) opinions.
No toxins were harmed in the making of this post. If your brand loyalty is offended, maybe you’re injecting too close to the ego.
